As a new independent publisher, we are aware that books are beautiful and important, but some urgent content needs other formats and media - that are quicker and maybe more democratic. We therefore start producing a number of zines focusing on different topics. Each zine will be a collaboration with different partners, based on our conviction in collectivity. We invite for contributions to the first issue of our zine, curated by Emeka Alams of Gold Coast Trading Company, on the notion of SOLIDARITY. We produce this issue in cooperation with our friends and colleagues at Kültürhane, Mersin/Turkey - (https://www.instagram.com/kulturhane.mersin/) who enact solidarity by merely doing what's necessary in a world of unnecessary constraint. Solidarity though goes beyond bilateral engagements, it's more, more complicated, and more solid.
Send us ideas, examples what solidarity means to you - images, sketches, texts - and how it manifests. Feel free. Not more than one page, A4, and written in accessible language.
The issue will be published in both English and Turkish. Please send your contributions to livefromthecoast.1444@gmail.com and fink@iwalewabooks.com till January 11th, 2019. The issue will be published in early 2019.
